Baptism is an outward sign of your new inward reality
Baptism is a visible sign that you have asked Jesus to forgive you for your sin and you are now in a relationship with Him. It signifies your inward reality that you have been washed clean because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross. Baptism also identifies you as a follower of Jesus and a member of God’s family.
Getting baptized is so important that Jesus commanded His followers to be baptized in Matthew 28:19; “Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.” By getting baptized, you are taking a crucial step that Jesus asks you to take in your faith journey.
What does baptism mean?
Baptism is a powerful public expression of your faith in Jesus Christ. Before you are baptized, you must put your trust and faith in what Jesus did for you on the cross. He paid the price for your sin with His death and rose again to give you hope and a new life.
When you become a follower of Christ, the next step Jesus commands us to take is baptism. While it signifies that you are a follower of Christ, it does not make you a follower. In the same way, a wedding ring would identify you as belonging to someone; it is a visible symbol of an invisible commitment. For a follower of Christ, baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision. It signifies the new reality of your life.
Baptized again?
If you got baptized before you became a believer or as a baby, we recommend you get baptized again since it represents that you have chosen to become a follower of Christ. We baptize by immersion to model how Jesus was baptized.
How do children get baptized?
All children (5th grade and under) must meet with one of our Kids Pastors to ensure they have chosen to follow Jesus Christ and understand what baptism is before they take this important step. You can request a meeting by clicking here.
